Panels, fuse boxes & service upgrades
The panel is where most old-house trouble shows up first: a fuse box that was never replaced, a panel with no open spaces, breakers that run warm, or a service too small for a heat pump and an EV. We replace and repair panels and fuse boxes, add subpanels for basements, garages and additions, and handle service upgrades from the meter to the last breaker, with every circuit labeled when we leave.
Troubleshooting is careful work: find the cause, not just the symptom. We trace dead circuits, warm or loose outlets, flickering lights and nuisance trips, then fix them properly. When a room or a whole floor needs it, we rewire, and we run new circuits for kitchens, baths, laundry, additions and finished basements.
Good lighting is mostly planning: the right fixtures, in the right places, on the right switches. We install fixtures and recessed lighting, exterior and landscape-adjacent lighting, ceiling fans on properly rated boxes, and dimmers and three-way switching so a room works the way you use it.
North Central Massachusetts gets ice, wet snow and wind, and that means outages. We install and repair generators and set up safe ways to connect them, so a generator never backfeeds the utility line. Whole-home surge protection at the panel is a sensible add-on while we are there.
Modern homes run on a lot of small wires. We handle thermostat installation and repair, the electrical connections for heating equipment, smart switches and devices, security and alarm system installs and repairs, and home network wiring, so the low-voltage side of the house is as tidy as the panel.
